Leah Mansfield is a stand-up comedian, video editor, photographer, and Air Force veteran currently based in London, working her way into the UK comedy and film/TV crew scene.

Born in Washington state to hippie scientists, she’s the second of seven kids raised by a mother who built a career as a scientist despite being disabled in a childhood accident. Four of Leah’s sisters became strippers; lacking the necessary skill set, Leah went to college instead. She’s also an enrolled member of the Chukchansi Tribe, which, combined with everything else on this page, makes her probably the only Native American veteran left handed comedian who can say that with a straight face.

A ROTC scholarship sent her through the University of Washington and into the Air Force, where she spent five years as a nuclear launch officer — on duty the day of 9/11, in a job whose entire description was “don’t press the red button.” When her service ended, she did the two most stabilizing things she could think of: came out as a lesbian, and became a stand-up comic.

Sixteen-plus years and 35 states later, Leah has opened for Tom Green, Tig Notaro, and Hal Sparks, played festivals from Bridgetown to the World Series of Comedy, and wrote and performed her section of the Tubi comedy special “Brash Girls.” But somewhere along the way the girl who used to make her own YouTube jokes as “the Romulan Paperboy that never went to space” also became the person other comedians call to shoot and cut their stuff. Leah has spent the last several years building a second career behind the camera — she’s a video editor and photographer with New York Film Academy training, eight-plus years in Adobe Lightroom, three years cutting in Premiere Pro, shooting on her Canon with a full lens kit, and running sound and lighting as an emcee for Revolution Talent Competition Company. She’s crewed on shows including “Saving Ron Babcock,” “Physical” (Season 2), and “American Ninja Warrior Junior,” and co-owns the comedy and travel content brand @backyardjokes with her writing partner, Josh.

These days Leah is focused on comedy and crew work in the UK, along with taking care of her two precious dogs.
